Your privacy is important to me. This Privacy Policy applies to information collected about you when you use sharonrawlette.com.
Information Collected
Sharonrawlette.com collects two kinds of information: the information you directly provide and the analytics information that WordPress and Automattic collect automatically.
Information You Provide
When you submit a message through one of my contact forms, you provide me with your name and email address.
Information Collected Automatically
My website hosts, WordPress and Automattic, also collect some information automatically:
- Log information: Like most online service providers, they collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information.
- Location information: They may determine the approximate location of your device from your IP address. They collect and use this information to, for example, calculate how many people visit sharonrawlette.com from certain geographic regions.
- Information from cookies & other technologies: A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Pixel tags (also called web beacons) are small blocks of code placed on websites and emails. Automattic uses cookies and other technologies like pixel tags to help identify and track visitors, usage, and access preferences, as well as track and understand email campaign effectiveness and to deliver targeted ads. For more information about their use of cookies, please see Automattic’s Cookie Policy.
For more information on Automattic’s collection of information about users of our website, please see Automattic’s Privacy Notice.

I use information about you for the purposes listed below:
- To communicate with you. If you’ve contacted me through a contact form, I’ll use the email address you provide to reply to you.

For more information on Automattic’s collection of information about users of this website, please see Automattic’s Privacy Notice.
Legal Bases for Collecting and Using Information
A note for those in the European Union (EU) about my legal grounds for processing information about you under EU data protection laws:
My use of your information is based on the grounds that:
(1) The use is necessary in order to fulfill my commitments to you — for example, in order to provide information, goods, or a service you’ve requested; or
(2) I have a legitimate interest in using your information — for example, to communicate with you and to measure, gauge, and improve the effectiveness of my web presence; or
(3) You have given me your consent — for example, before sharonrawlette.com places certain cookies on your device and accesses and analyzes them later on, as described in Automattic’s Cookie Policy.
Sharing Information
Sharonrawlette.com does not routinely share your information with third parties, though I would be obligated to do so if required by a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request. Otherwise, I retain your information solely for the purposes of providing information and services directly to you.
Transferring Information out of the European Union (EU)
If you are located in the EU, you should know that, because WordPress is based in the United States and Automattic’s services are offered worldwide, the information collected by WordPress, sharonrawlette.com, or Automattic when you use sharonrawlette.com in the EU may be used, stored, and/or accessed by individuals operating outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who work for WordPress, Sharon Hewitt Rawlette, or Automattic, other members of their group of companies, or third-party data processors. This is required for the purposes listed in the “How and Why We Use Information” section above.
How Long I Keep Information
I’ll retain your name and email address in my records until you ask me to remove it. You can do this by emailing sharon.rawlette@gmail.com.
Automattic retains analytics information, like a web visitor’s IP address, browser type, and operating system, for approximately 30 days. They retain the logs for this period of time in order to, among other things, analyze traffic to Automattic’s websites and investigate issues if something goes wrong on one of their websites. For more information on Automattic’s collection of information about users of sharonrawlette.com, please see Automattic’s Privacy Notice.
